OCMULGEE JUDICIAL CIRCUT FAMILY TREATMENT COURT

Serving Baldwin, Green, Hancock, Putnam, and Wilkinson County

Mission

The mission of the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Family Treatment Court is to improve permanency, well-being and recovery outcomes of children, parents and families affected by trauma, substance abuse and mental health disorders.

To date the program has served 170 individual participants
Approximately 300 children have been served in this program

Eligibility Criteria

The parent must be a resident of the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit.
The parent must be a legal and primary caretaker of a child 16 years or younger.
The parents must have dependency allegations arising from substance abuse or
dependence.

Exclusion Criteria

Prior sustained reports for child sexual
abuse.
Mental health or mental retardation that
prevent full participation in substance
abuse treatment
Chronic or terminal conditions requiring
extensive medical treatment
Previous convictions for violent crimes or
felony child abuse.

Why Family Treatment Court

The Family Treatment Court program is designed to break the cycle of addiction and neglect. Through monitored service delivery, the goal is to reduce the number of days that children are in foster care.

FTC

The FTC strives to ensure the safety and well-being of children and facilitate family reunification. The FTC uses a team approach to work with dependency cases. The multi-disciplinary team works to provide a highly structured and coordinated approach to treat the parents’ disease of substance abuse. It simultaneously addresses parenting while holding parents accountable for their choices.
